Security Bank will be closed Monday, June 20 to honor Juneteenth National Independence Day.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration honoring the end of slavery in the United States.
On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger led thousands of federal troops to Galveston, Texas to announce that the Civil War had ended, and slaves had been freed.
In 2021, Juneteenth National Independence Day became an official Federal Holiday to commemorate this important moment in American History. Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19, a Sunday this year, so the holiday will be observed Monday, June 20.
