Celebrating Excellence
Keely Houston, Security Bank SBA loan assistant, recently attended the Oklahoma Bankers Association Basic Banking School where she was awarded top honors for having one of the highest scores on the final exam. Her job well done earned her a scholarship to the Intermediate School in February.
"Congratulations Keely!" remarks Lynette Lyons, Security Bank SBA Lender. "We are fortunate you joined our bank and the SBA department. You are achieving excellent knowledge and it will be fun watching you develop and seeing where your career takes you!"
The four-day Basic Banking School provides students an understanding how each department in the banking industry operates and relates to the overall functioning of a bank.
“I am still early in my career and newer to the banking world,” Keely Houston said. “I wanted to attend this school to really dive into banking and broaden my knowledge to be a better asset for the bank.”
On the final day, students are required to take an 80-question comprehensive final exam in which they have one -hour to complete. The student(s) with the highest test score receives a $400 scholarship to the OBA Intermediate Banking School. We are proud Keely was one of the high scores.
“I was very fortunate, only having one incorrect answer,” she said. “I am naturally very competitive… so it was great to receive the top score and earn a scholarship for the next level.”
“This school was a great experience for me and really opened my eyes to what all goes on in the bank,” Keely shared. “I learned something new about every department, and I am really looking forward to experiencing the next level of training. I think one of the biggest takeaways was how important it is to know a little bit about each area of the bank so I can learn how to possibly make things easier for others with what I do, and maybe find something they may be able to do to help my area. We are all a team.”
“I am very thankful for the opportunities Security Bank has given me to participate in different trainings to further my education!”
